This year's homecoming dance is sure to shine, bright as a mirrorball! Everyone at their best dressed at Richmond Highs' homecoming dance.
But what went into the planning of this event? We were wondering the same thing! So we interviewed Izzy Stewart and Payton Cray two student council members who were very involved in the process.
Covid absolutely messed up everyone's processes. We asked the two council members how they got around it this year.
“This year was all in person thankfully but some people called out every once in a while.” A summary of statements from both parties agreed that it was nice to be able to be in person without masks for the first time in forever.
Now, what about the theme? A play on the disco ball, this year's theme is mirrorball! Also the name of a popular Taylor Swift song, we wondered what the process was like and some other ideas that weren't anyone's favorite.
“Mass vote mostly we put a bunch of ideas on the board most were jokes though. Minions did not make the cut, unfortunately.” Said Izzy which was followed by laughter from everyone. A breath of relief we say! “Most of it was funny since we didn't know what we were doing” Izzy replied when we asked if there were any more highlights for the planning process.
Another big part of Homecoming week is spirit week! This year we have slime fun themes like color day and dress like adam Sandler day. Izzy and Payton said this about the process of those ideas.
“Similar to the theme, we came up with a lot and had to eliminate a lot, we are planning to do more spirit weeks in the future to include everything we came up with.” Looking forward to it!
All around sounds like a good time and we are glad that covid hasn’t ruined everything so far, knock on wood!
